Big Wild

Big Wild

When Jackson Stell began crafting his new album as Big Wild, he was on a mission to reconnect with the part of himself that first fell in love with music: his inner child. After releasing The Efferusphere, Stell realized he had started taking the creative process too seriously, so he imagined a superhero alter ego—Wild Child—as a way to channel curiosity and exuberance back into his art. That spirit defines Wild Child, an experimental, high-energy odyssey written and produced primarily by Stell alongside collaborators, blending childlike wonder with his mature artistry. The album features collaborations with Phantogram, iDA HAWK, and Twen, weaving influences from 1960s pop, soul, hip-hop, and electronic textures into a vibrant, fearless soundscape.

The exploratory nature of Wild Child builds on Big Wild’s evolution, from his early days making beats in St. Louis and Los Angeles to his breakout debut Superdream in 2019 and 2022’s The Efferusphere. Throughout, Stell’s music has been rooted in a reverence for nature and fueled by diverse influences, integrating sustainable practices into his work while exploring themes of renewal, resilience, and connection. Wild Child captures this ethos fully, offering tracks like “You Belong Here,” “Too Loud,” and “Love Any Longer” as life-affirming anthems that celebrate creativity, belonging, and the freedom of rediscovering wonder in both music and life.
