Tami X

tamiX is a professional artist of improvisational electronic live music and visual arts who refuses to perform with computer programs or software, instead specializing in unprepared visual creativity and live performance with standalone gear. As a Buchla & Eventide endorsed artist, she uses the Buchla 200e modular synthesizer system to create electrifying live improvisations that fuse experimental soundscapes with atmospheric changes. This approach has earned her a reputation for unique, one-of-a-kind performances that can only truly be experienced live. Rather than focusing on traditional music platforms, she has embraced YouTube streaming—particularly influential in China—where her full live shows are available to audiences worldwide. In 2022, she released her first melodic techno album X New Year on Detroit Underground, accompanied by a live set video, a 44-page photo book, and a collector’s edition USB release.

Her career quickly expanded into international touring, beginning with her first multi-city tour of China in 2023, which included stops in Chengdu, Suzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen. Later that year she embarked on her first global tour, performing in both the United States and Japan. tamiX also made history with the world’s first Buchla improvisational modular live set in Dolby Atmos, surrounding audiences with immersive spatial audio that was later released on Apple Music as tamiX in Atmos (Prologue). Beyond her performances, she is the founder of Midifan, a leading Chinese music tech portal, and has co-produced official albums for Hatsune Miku. Her diverse passions extend into skateboarding, where she is also a certified coach, and her lifelong affection for ACG culture continues to influence her artistry and community work.
